First ITA Airways Flight Lands in Accra

We are excited to announce the successful landing of the first ITA Airways flight from Rome Fiumicino to Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Ghana. The Airbus A321neo aircraft received a warm welcome with a water arch salute upon its arrival.

This inaugural flight marks the launch of a new intercontinental route for ITA Airways, representing the company's first foray into sub-Saharan Africa. To commemorate this milestone, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at Terminal 3 of Kotoka International Airport, attended by esteemed guests including officials from the Ghana Airports Company Limited, ambassadors from Italy and Ghana, and representatives from ITA Airways.

Emiliana Limosani, Chief Commercial Officer of ITA Airways, expressed pride in inaugurating the direct flight between Accra and Rome, emphasizing the significance of this new route in expanding the company's reach into the African market. The commencement of this service not only enhances point-to-point traffic but also facilitates travel to other destinations within both countries, catering to both leisure and business travelers.

Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, Managing Director of Ghana Airports Company Limited, extended a warm welcome to ITA Airways and assured their commitment to facilitating seamless operations for the airline and its passengers at Kotoka International Airport.

Ambassador Daniela d’Orlandi of Italy to Ghana highlighted the positive impact of the new direct connections between Accra and Rome in strengthening the collaborative relationship between Italy and Ghana across various sectors.

Similarly, Ambassador Merene Benyah of Ghana to Italy emphasized the significance of ITA Airways' renewed direct flight service in fostering business, commercial, and cultural ties between the two countries.

The Accra–Rome route, as the only direct connection between Ghana and Italy, marks a pivotal step for ITA Airways in establishing a stronger presence in West Africa. Following this launch, the airline plans to inaugurate a new flight from Rome Fiumicino to Dakar in July, further expanding its reach in the region.

Operating with the new Airbus A321neo aircraft, ITA Airways offers a modern and efficient travel experience, with three separate cabins catering to different passenger preferences. The aircraft's advanced features and environmentally friendly design reflect the airline's commitment to sustainability and passenger comfort.

With this new route, ITA Airways now operates 57 destinations in the current summer season, including domestic, international, and intercontinental flights. Additionally, the airline will introduce 12 seasonal destinations during the peak summer period, catering to popular Mediterranean tourist spots.

Passengers can book flights for these new routes through various channels including the official ITA Airways website, customer center, travel agencies, and airport ticket offices.

The launch of the Accra–Rome route signifies an important milestone for ITA Airways as it expands its global network and strengthens ties between Italy and Ghana. We look forward to witnessing the positive impact of this new connection on travel, trade, and cultural exchange between these two vibrant nations.
