Lagos launches its boat service between Marina and Badagry

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has introduced a new ferry route from Badagry to Marina in response to the growing congestion on the Badagry axis brought on by building and rehabilitation.

In order to facilitate commuter transportation, the Lagos State Ferry Service (LAGFERRY) will begin operating commercially from Badagry via Liverpool to CMS/Marina in the morning and from CMS/Marina via Liverpool to Badagry in the evening.

By water, the trip, which is predicted to take over six hours by land, would be finished in just one hour.

AbdulBaq Ladi Balogun, managing director of LAGFERRY, reaffirmed the state government's commitment to improving water transportation as a solution to traffic congestion at a stakeholders meeting preceding the launch. This commitment includes continuously acquiring new modern boats, renovating and constructing modern jetties, opening new routes, and providing cutting-edge safety equipment, among other things.

He declared that "today marks a critical milestone in our mission to encourage sustainable and effective form of transportation inside the Badagry axis."

The move, according to Balogun, who was represented by the Director of Admin and Human Resources, Bunmi Mofunlewi, not only offers a platform for networking but also has significant economic and social advantages for our community.
