Ethiopian Airlines Group board chair Girma wake resigns
Ethiopian aviation expert Girma wake has resigned as the chairman of the board of directors of the Ethiopian Airlines Group with effect from 8 June 2023.
It is unclear why he resigned, and Mr. Wake could not be reached for comment.
Ethiopia Airlines confirmed the resignation of Mr. Wake in a Tweet sent on Monday June 12.
The airline said that Mr. Wake's resignation will be effective on 8 June 2023, and that his replacement will be appointed by Ethiopian Air Force Commander Yilma MERDASSA.
Girma Wake has been the Management Board Chairman of the Group since March 2022. He has been providing effective leadership to the group and sharing his extensive experience in the aviation industry. Prior to this, he has served the airline in various capacities, including member of the Board and CEO at various times.
Ethiopian Airlines extends its sincerest congratulations to Mr Girma Wake and wishes him the best in his future endeavors.
According to unconfirmed reports, there may be managerial changes at Africa's largest airline in the near future.
