Roads Minister inspects ongoing road projects in Northern Region

We recently had the privilege of witnessing the Minister for Roads and Highways, Mr Francis Asenso-Boakye, conduct an inspection of several ongoing road projects in the Northern Region. The purpose of this inspection was to evaluate the progress of work on these vital infrastructure developments.

Among the projects inspected were the 168-kilometre Tamale to Tatali Road, a 140-km stretch of roads in the Gushegu Municipality, the 5km Pong Tamale to Kpalung to Larigu Road, and the 13km Savelugu by-pass. Each of these projects is at various stages of completion, and it was enlightening to witness firsthand the advancements being made.

During an interaction with the press at the construction site at Yendi, Mr Asenso-Boakye emphasized the significance of these road developments. He highlighted their potential to enhance agricultural activities, promote trade, boost tourism, and contribute to overall economic development in the region. It was evident that these projects hold great promise for the transformation of Dagbon and the Northern Region as a whole.

Expressing optimism about the progress, Mr Asenso-Boakye indicated that the Yendi to Tatale Road is expected to be completed by November of this year. This projected timeline underscores the government's commitment to timely and efficient project delivery.

In addition to overseeing the progress of the road projects, Mr Asenso-Boakye also took the opportunity to engage with local leaders, including Paramount Chiefs of Karaga and Gushegu, as well as the Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Abukari (II). These courtesy calls were aimed at briefing them about the ongoing developments and seeking their valuable insights.

Ya-Na Abukari (II) commended the government for its efforts in initiating these crucial projects in the area. He also took the opportunity to appeal to the Minister for increased attention to other strategic roads in farming communities, emphasizing the potential impact on reducing accidents and enhancing socio-economic activities in those areas.

The significance of these road projects cannot be overstated. They represent a significant step towards improving connectivity, fostering economic growth, and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents in the Northern Region. As we look forward to the completion of these projects, it is evident that they will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Dagbon and the Northern Region at large.
