NEO Energy acquires Western Isles FPSO

NEO Energy has successfully acquired the Western Isles FPSO, marking a significant milestone for the company. This acquisition will enable NEO Energy to expand its operations and increase its production capabilities. The Western Isles FPSO is a state-of-the-art facility that is designed to handle challenging offshore environments. With this acquisition, NEO Energy is well-positioned to meet the growing demand for energy and contribute to the sustainable development of the industry. The company remains committed to delivering safe and reliable energy solutions while maintaining the highest standards of environmental stewardship.

Dana Petroleum and NEO Energy have recently entered into a sale and purchase agreement, with NEO Energy set to acquire Dana's complete equity in the Western Isles FPSO. The plan is to redeploy the FPSO to the Greater Buchan Area, with operations expected to commence in 2026.

Production Halt and Ownership Transfer

As part of this agreement, Dana Petroleum and NEO Energy have mutually decided to cease production from the Western Isles fields, which currently utilize the FPSO for production. This production halt is anticipated to occur around March 31, 2024. Following the necessary regulatory and other approvals, NEO Energy will then take ownership of the FPSO for its redeployment to the Greater Buchan Area.

This agreement not only facilitates the redeployment of the FPSO but also involves the transfer of the Western Isles field to Mangora, a Norwegian renewable energy development company. Mangora has ambitious plans for a 500MW floating offshore project in the Western Isles.

Greater Buchan Area

The Greater Buchan Area, where the FPSO will be redeployed, falls under the P2498 and P2170 licenses situated in the UK Central North Sea. License P2498 encompasses the Buchan oil field and J2 oil discovery, while License P2170 includes the Verbier oil discovery and other exploration prospects.

Strategic Move

This strategic move by Dana Petroleum and NEO Energy signifies their commitment to optimizing operations and exploring new opportunities in the energy sector. By redeploying the FPSO and facilitating the development of renewable energy projects, they are actively contributing to the growth and sustainability of the industry.
