McDermott, a leading subsea and deepwater engineering and construction company in the US, has been awarded a limited notice to proceed with an engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contract by Shell for the Manatee gas field development project. The project is located off the east coast of Trinidad and Tobago and is subject to Shell taking a final investment decision.
Project Details
The scope of the Manatee project includes the design, procurement, fabrication, transportation, installation, and commissioning of a wellhead platform, as well as offshore and onshore gas pipelines. McDermott’s successful delivery of the front-end engineering design for the Manatee gas field led to this award.
Once commissioned, the Manatee field will supply both domestic and export markets from Trinidad and Tobago. It is a conventional gas development and is part of the cross-border Loran-Manatee discovery, shared by Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela. The field holds some 10 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, with 7.3 on Venezuela’s side and the remaining 2.7 on Trinidad’s side.
McDermott's Response
McDermott’s Senior Vice President for Subsea and Floating Facilities, Mahesh Swaminathan, expressed his satisfaction with the award: “This award follows our successful delivery of the front-end engineering design for the Manatee gas field. We are excited to continue our partnership with Shell and support Trinidad and Tobago in this important project.”
This project is a significant milestone for McDermott and demonstrates their expertise in delivering complex offshore projects. Their commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency will ensure the successful completion of this project.
