Ethiopian Airlines has recently announced an expansion of its freighter fleet. The airline has taken a strategic decision to increase its capacity and improve its services in the cargo transportation sector. This move is expected to enhance Ethiopian Airlines' contribution to the global supply chain, especially during the ongoing pandemic crisis. The airline's commitment to providing reliable and efficient cargo services has been well received by its customers, and this expansion is a testament to its dedication to meeting their needs. With this development, Ethiopian Airlines is poised to further strengthen its position as a leading player in the air cargo industry.
Ethiopian Airlines has recently announced the addition of its 10th Boeing 777 freighter, further expanding its air cargo capacity. The twin-engine commercial cargo plane is set to be operated by Ethiopian Cargo and boasts a payload of over 100 tons.
Details of the announcement
"We are delighted to announce that we took delivery of our 10th Boeing 777-200LR Freighter aircraft," Ethiopian Airlines stated in a LinkedIn post on November 8th.
This move comes after Ethiopian Airlines signed a deal in September of last year to lease three Boeing 767-300ER converted freighters from Titan Aviation. In addition, the airline partnered with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) earlier this year to launch a B767-300ER freighter conversion line at Ethiopian MRO facilities in Addis Ababa.
Furthermore, Ethiopian Airlines signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Boeing last year to purchase five 777-8Fs and ordered five Boeing 777Fs. Currently, the airline operates an all-cargo fleet of 10 777Fs, two 767-300Fs (with a third earmarked for conversion), and four 737-800Fs.
Ethiopian Cargo's services

Strengthening position in the air cargo industry
This latest addition to Ethiopian Airlines' cargo fleet is sure to strengthen its position in the air cargo industry and provide its customers with even more reliable and efficient cargo services.
