Ukrainian seafarers risk being forbidden from entering Russian waters

Ukrainian seafarers face being barred from working on ships that enter Russian waters.

A new law coming into place on Monday, the 600th day since Russia invaded its neighbour, will force Ukrainian citizens entering the country to come through just two entry points: Sheremetievo airport in Moscow and Ludonka on the border with Latvia.

For Ukrainian seafarers, according to P&I correspondents who have been in touch with InterManager, the global association for shipmanagers, all Ukrainian crewmembers will be interviewed by Russian authorities during inward clearance, which may cause delays of vessels.

Agents at the Russian Baltic port of Ust-Luga advised that vessels with Ukrainian citizens onboard will not be allowed to enter the port and conduct cargo operations.
