The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has been advised to step up education on its decision to make any changes to the current driver's licence by Government Kwame Agbodza, who serves as the Ranking Member of the Roads and Transport Committee of Parliament.
All previous driver's licence cards issued before September 2017 will be gradually phased out, according to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA).
These outdated cards will be swapped out by smart licence cards, according to the DVLA.
The challenge will begin right away and last until March 31, 2024. All old card driver's licences will no longer be valid after that date, according to the DVLA.
The DVLA needs to properly inform the public of the new modifications to the driver's licence, according to Mr. Agbodza, who has expressed reservations over the decision.
"I feel that even before you go out talking about this, you do it the other way if you truly want to change driving licences. Engage in public education so that by the time you write the letter and set a timeframe for the change, the typical driver is aware. Consult the public and interested parties, including drivers, transporters, and everyone else.
