Ghana Has Been Added to South Africa's E-Visa Program

The e-visa list for South Africa now includes Ghana. As a result, Ghanaians who want to visit South Africa can apply for visas online without going to the High Commission and receive pre-approval before departing.

When arriving at the point of entry, standard procedures such a bank statement, invitation letter, and passport information would be confirmed.

This information was provided in a statement released by the South African High Commission-Ghana on September 28, 2023, in Accra.

Ghana seems unfazed by the visa waiver for South Africa

Ghanaians who recently struggled to obtain South African visas in a timely manner for both business and leisure travel will find some relief from the new e-visa system.

Regarding a 90-day visa-free agreement for bearers of regular passports with the Republic of South Africa, Ghana has not yet taken any action (RSA).

Aviation According to Ghanaian sources with direct knowledge of the situation, the South African Home Affairs Department put up the offer more than a year ago to encourage commerce and investment between the two nations, but Ghana has not yet accepted the conditions.

For holders of ordinary Ghanaian passports, the SA Home Affairs, which is independent of the nation's Foreign Affairs office, offered one 90-day visa-free entry each year. The option to apply for a visa would be available to those who desire to extend their stay. Ghana, though, has taken the offer in stride.
