South African Airlines to resume service in October to two Brazilian cities

SAA is set to inaugurate its first intercontinental service to the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo, following its return to the aviation industry in September 2021.

SA Airways will provide four weekly flights to the São Paulo International Airport, departing twice from Cape Town (on Tuesday and Saturday) and twice from Johannesburg (on Monday and Thursday).

Tebogo Tsimane, Chief Commercial Officer for SAA, stated: "We have developed a timetable that is excellent for connecting traffic and is suited for both business and leisure travelers. When they take a flight operated by SAA, our Voyager members can also accrue miles more quickly; 1 SAA Voyager mile is earned for every R1.60 spent, and the miles' accumulation counts toward Elite status.

Brazil's most populated city, Sao Paulo, is also one of the largest financial centres in the world and the nation's financial center. It offers a wide variety of top-notch museums, cultural centers, theaters, and cinemas, making it an excellent location for both business and pleasure. Also, it has top-notch pubs, restaurants, and nightclubs. Both countries have efficient transportation systems, including cabs, buses, subways, and rail lines.

"We are thrilled to announce So Paulo as our first overseas destination since the airline successfully emerged from an extensive Business Rescue process and Covid-19 shutdown," SAA's Interim CEO, Professor John Lamola, said. Also, it heralds the resumption of our long-distance service from Cape Town. The SAA Teams are putting a lot of effort into preparing our operations for the inauguration of this highly awaited route to South America.

"We carefully considered the viability of the route before deciding to start the resumption of our long-haul service with So Paulo. Since SAA's relaunch, sustainability has been at the core of our strategy.

Travelers to and from Sao Paulo can anticipate our award-winning customer service because South African Airlines is the country's flag carrier and takes pleasure in bringing South African hospitality to international routes.

Air Promotion Group (APG) in Brazil has been chosen by SAA to serve as its general sales agent (GSA).

Tickets go on sale on June 29, 2023, with the first flights departing from Johannesburg on November 6 and Cape Town on October 31.
