Nigerians send goods to Ghana for certification to increase economic output.

There are signs that Nigerian manufacturers are already transporting their products to Ghana to apply for certification so they can export to Europe, America, and Asia.

According to thetransporteronline24, this development occurred as a result of the foreign markets' discomfort with the certification of such commodities by Nigerian government institutions.

Some of the businessmen who spoke with thetransporteronline24 claimed that a lack of strong standards and certification had resulted in many nations rejecting Nigerian cargo.

Recall that the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, or NAFDAC, is given authority by the federal government to certify and regulate the quality of drugs and foods consumed in the nation, while the Standard Organization of Nigeria is in charge of ensuring the quality of both imported and locally produced goods.

The command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Customs Area Controller, CAC, Timi Bomodi, attested to this in Lagos when the Maritime Association of Nigeria, MARAN, paid a courtesy call to the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal, KLT, and said it is true that Nigerian-made goods are now being shipped to Ghana to seek their certification for easy export.

The volume of Ghana's exports has recently increased, according to Bomodi, as a result of the development.

"If you don't operate by a set of rules and you don't define standards, then standards will define you," he said.

"Travel to Ghana, then when you visit America, visit the African shops; you'll notice that 90% of the items you see there are from Ghana. Know what Nigerians engage in? Before being exported, some products made in Nigeria are transported to Ghana for certification.
