Despite recent significant investments in on-ground infrastructure in various countries in the sub-region, including Senegal, Nigeria, and Ghana, no airport in West Africa made the list.
Customers that participate in the largest annual global airport customer satisfaction survey cast their votes for the airport industry's most prestigious awards, the World Airport Awards.
They evaluate customer service and facilities at more than 550 airports, serving as a quality standard for the global airport business. There is no airport control, influence, or involvement in the survey or awards.
The survey and awards procedure is entirely funded by Skytrax, and there is no entry fee or other payment required of an airport (or other third party) to participate in the survey or win an award. The Best Airports in Africa list omits Ghana and Nigeria.
